Westward!

WESTWARD! is a frontier survival simulation about taking five people and one wagon two thousand miles west in 1848 — the year the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican-American War, signed nine days after gold was found at Sutter's Mill and months before the news reached the east. Your company leaves Missouri knowing none of it. The goal is to arrive in Oregon with every one of them alive. Ideally intact.

It keeps the shape of the trail games you remember — outfitting a wagon, fording rivers, burying people you liked — and puts a genuine simulation underneath.

Five people, fully simulated

Every traveler rolls their own attributes, trade, personal interest, temper and growth aptitude. Grief scales with how close two people actually were, and illness leaves permanent scars. No two companies behave alike.

A Storyteller, not a random table

Six personas built from sliders — frequency, severity, mercy, streakiness, pacing, brutality — shape each run's whole dramatic arc. Greenhorn's Guide will let you learn. The Undertaker will not.

Food is a system

Quantity and dietary variety feed a continuous fitness curve that moves every stat, every day. Feed them badly for a week and watch your best shot start missing.

A wagon that obeys physics

Load against pull, room against weight, wheels that wear and tyres that throw on rough ground. Overload it and the team wears down — a spiral that ends stranded on an empty plain.

Evening camp: tents pitched, the company seated round a fire against full dark. A woodland glade at low sun, gold light raking between the trunks as the wagon passes. A storm over the plains, lightning terminating on the skyline ahead of the wagon.
